    1. The Dying Game was a very intense and graphic romantic suspense novel that I would give 4.5 stars if possible. I was quickly caught up in the story, and found it captivating all the way through. Judd Walker was among the most tortured heroes that I have encountered, and in the beginning of the book he was not portrayed as a particularly appealing character. Although I felt sympathy for what he had been through, it was hard to imagine how his character could transform into a credible hero. By the [...]

    2. This was a re-read for me (wanted to refresh my mind before reading next in series). It was ok for me but, I in the end I just wanted it to get finished. IMO the whole book was like an over-acted play. I just didn't connect with anyone. Jude seemed to have a complete change of heart and I never really understood why. Griffin had a callous attitude one minute and a caring attitude the next, with no rhyme nor reason for either. Lindsay just simply pissed me off. I kept waiting for her to grow a ba [...]

    3. This book could not hold my interest. I struggled with it until I was a little more than 3/4 finished and IT was a struggle. Finally, just put it up and got something else. The lengthy and pointless descriptions were very annoying. This book could have shed about 150 pages by removing the verbal diarrhea. There was a lot of reiteration that I found totally unnecessary and quite frankly, insulting. I got it the first time! The character interaction was horrible. I didn't like ANY of them and it ne [...]

    4. I couldn't put it down. It was an awesomely scary book that will keep you guessing almost until the end. I was completely unable to guess the identity of the killer and had to wait until the author was ready to reveal whodunit.

    5. I read this novel out of the order of the Griffin Powell series. This is the third book and so I was confused where the relationships and the story's time line was concerned. The Dying Game is about the Beauty Queen Killer. He's called that because he kills only people whom have been a Beauty Queen in their past. As Lindsay McAllister works to find out who killed Judd Walker's first wife and all the other BQs. As the novel goes on the kills begin to escalate, coming sooner and more brutal. Lindsa [...]

    6. Downloaded from for free and still I think this was a waste of money. This book needed a good editor as so much unnecessary detail could have been thrown away. After introducing each character there were no further interesting developments, the characters remained two-dimensional despite long winded ramblings that went nowhere.I grew more annoyed at the time I was wasting on this book, the only thing that kept me going was seeing the percentage read decrease and the knowledge that I could pick [...]

    7. Utter misogynist violent crap . and if that wasn't bad enough One female character KNOWS that his man loves her , despite his attempted rape on her , and ends up with him . Sorry did that spoil it for you . Good . believe me I just saved you some time that you will never get back .

    8. The most pathetic heroine ever! Unprofessionalormat all the way. Am not sure what the writer is looking to achieve hero was just as pathetic

    9. Unbelievable. I'm not sure why I keep giving Beverly Barton another shot (actually, I do -- thanks a lot library book sale), expecting things to improve, but they most certainly did NOT in this book. In fact, this may very well have been the worst one yet. We're told very early on that the main "hero" "almost raped" the heroine a few months previously, but it's okay, because he's a really good guy at heart and he had a good reason for it. Ummexcuse me? Unbelievable. Just say "no" -- to "almost r [...]

    10. ngerumpiin griffin powell yukkkkkhas BB selalu ada pembunuhan berantaikali ini pembunuhan para mantan ratu kencantikan. mereka dibunuh dengan cara sadisi tubuhnya dibunuh sesuai dengan keahlian mereka.termasuk jennifer walker, former Miss Tennesse, istri dari Judd Walker V yang terbunuh dengan cara sadis & kedua tangannya terpotong (si jenni pinter maen piano)kematian jennifer membuat judd kehilangan segalanya. dia berubah total menjadi pribadi yg teramat sangat tidak menyenangkan & meny [...]

    11. Kasus pembunuhan berantai seperti biasa.

    12. I won't put any explicit spoiler here, so feel free to read my review. :)As a romance novel, it's pretty much normal. But I don't think it's a good mystery novel.*I'll start with the things that didn't make me give a higher score:*Romance Part: It's kinda classic, interesting and intriguing women with interesting and -this is the problem- guessable men. Trust me, men are not that guessable. That part made me a little disappointed, because the male characters are too unique to be real, yet really [...]

    13. started and couldnt put it down so good great combination of the actually murder case and the personal life of the people involed

    16. Two characters in the book I'm currently reading are Lindsay and Judd. Lindsay is working for Powell Agency. She's investigating on the Beauty Queen case and she and Judd are "partners". Apparently, Judd's wife, Jennifer was former Miss Tennessee and she was brutally murdered by this Beauty Queen Killer. After Judd discovers his wife dead, he vows to hunt down this deadly killer. Lindsay and Judd are neither friends or enemies. I think they're somewhere in between. I like their characters becaus [...]

    17. The best thing about this fantastic book is the fact that I read it 8 years after it was released, meaning that I don't have to wait impatiently for the follow up. As good as this was, more than anything, it simply whetted my appetite for the next installment. Talk about an addicting readI just couldn't put this one down. I kept telling myself."OK, just one more chapter for now." such luck! The pacing was relentless and Ms. Barton's writing was in top notch form. She painted such vivid pictures [...]

    18. Lindsay Mc allister, an ex-police officer was obsessed for a serial killer that had been murdered more than 20 former beauty queens. It became very personal to Mc Allister since she is in love with one of the victim's ex husband, Judd Walker well "in love" its not enough. she was crazy for him, and willing to do everything just to win Walker's heart though "heart" probably something that is not exist in this man. Beverly Borton always a little bit cruel in my opinion, but it's good for her. As [...]

    19. Is it a condemnation if I call this a mediocre book? I hope not and at the same time, I don't believe I could call it anything more than mediocre. okay, so maybe it IS a condemnation. It's just there are so many strange motivations attached to these characters. And oddly, this story was sort of done by Nora Roberts in Seduction in Death (kind of) and in comparison, Seduction in Death is a work of high literature. It feels like a sloppy set up for a series of books, she uses too many words in order [...]

    20. I had one simple rule for my holiday reads this year and that was that I had to stay away from chick-lit since twee, cutesy love stories bored me senseless. So when I saw a book about a serial killer knocking off former beauty queens I thought "this is for me" and downloaded it to my kindle.Really shouldn't have bothered. After the first chapter (which was surprisingly gripping) it all went down hill and morphed in to the weakest lovely story. The female lead had zero backbone or gumption it boa [...]

    21. Lindsay McAllister works for Griffin Powell's investigative agency trying to find the serial killer brutally murdering former beauty queens. She is in love with the husband of one of the victims but he is staunchly resisting. For her own welfare, Judd is horrible to Lindsay but with the best of intentions. He knows that he is incapable of returning her affection and is trying to protect her. The killer is relentless and twisted as helllling faster than Griff's team (and the FBI) can handle. This [...]

    22. Ceritanya bagus, alurnya cepat.

    23. Slowly but sure, Beverly Barton become 1 of my favorite author. I read her books for years now & even it's not easy to get a copy of her book, but it's worthy to wait & buy once it avaiable on the book store. I got this book online, when I order to buy Jonathan Stroud's The Screaming Staircase. This is the 7th series of Griffin Powell (the owner of Powell agency, the PI agency that become center of the story). And the story still trapped me, make me can't wait to finish the next book (sp [...]

    25. I thought it had great suspense and yes, it was gruesome in parts but we are talking about a serial killer here.I enjoyed the story of Lindsey and Judd. Furthermore, I could understand why Lindsey would act the way she did (I didn't always agree with it - she sometimes did behave like a doormat). But, we can't always help who we fall in love with, can we? I'm sure this was the case with Lindsey as well. This was my first book by Barton, but it definitely will not be my last (finished The Murder [...]

    26. Critanya baguuus, terjemahannya jg baguuus.Herannya,yg bkin ak suka buku ini justru bkan kisah si Judd+Lindsay,tp jstru porsi kmunculan si Griff yg hmpir sm bsar dg si tokoh utama.Suka bgt bc interaksi antara Griff n anak2 buahnya.Jg perang dingin antara Griff+Nicole.Top deh!Yg bkin sebel??Griff tdur sm wnita lain alias bukan Nicole (brhub Griff+Nic blm ad hub ap2,sbnrnya sah2 sj).Tp tetep gak relaaaaaBtw,si Pinkie+Pudge tu mmg bnr2 gak waras.Ngomongin soal darah+menggal kepala org kyak ngobrol s [...]

    27. This was a good read!! I enjoyed the suspense aspect, though it may be too graphic for some readers. I didn't have a clue on who the killer/s was/were.The romance part was a bit weird. I sympathized with Judd, but before he started wanting help, he came across as a major jerk. The romance didn't really get going until the second half of the book.I liked Lindsay & Judd.Onto Griff & Nic's story. In this book Nic came across as a major bitch, so I hope there is a good back story for her to m [...]

    28. This is the only book I've read by this author which may explain why I felt like there were so many unanswered questions, maybe they're answered in other books. I really disliked the characters; Lindsay is pathetic in a similar way to Bella in Twilight, Judd, in mourning or not, is awful. Other characters like Griff, Dr Meng and Sanders had unexplained backgrounds and were just strange. I'm not sure why everyone had to be ridiculously rich either.
