    2. We are in front of a masterpiece of galician literature,i obviously have read it in galician but have put the title in english with the goal of give to it more universality.I think it is in some USA list of the 1000 book one have to read before die.Tells in first person the memories written by a peasant galician boy and is formed by several chapters entitled by names of things ,concepts or persons and in its make reflections or tell his vivences in that situations. The words to describe the book [...]

    3. This is a story of Galicia, an area in NW Spain, isolated and poor. It is the notebook of Balbino, a peasant boy. He writes about his day to day experiences and his musings. Balbino is very smart, his thoughts are full of richness and they give the reader a picture of this area and life. We know that Balbino was able to go to school. He also does some substitute teaching. He talks about the unfairness of having to take abuse from the landowners mean son. The joy of his friendship that is interru [...]

    4. My grandad gave me this book as a legacy of his childhood. He used to keep it as a treasure, and now it is one of my most valuous treasures.Just as my grandfather, Balbino is a young kid from a tiny village in Galicia who works the land. This book tells from the perspective of a child his age the adventures of Balbino with his family, his friends and "enemies" and people who work with him. Simple and short, just like life at that age itself, this is an excellent book that anyone interested on th [...]

-As máis delas podemos gobernalas.

    7. ***This is the story in diary format of a young peasant boy growing up in Galicia in the 1940s. While exploring the themes of poverty and inequality through the eyes and language of a child conveys a certain charm to the novel, I do feel that it does not highlight sufficiently the Galician condition as it was back then; I would have loved to learn more about Galicia and its place within Spain in the 1940s. A quick read, with a few laughs and a few emotional moments.

    9. It is always a pleasure to walk in another's shoes as it were, and try to imagine a very different life to one's own.
