    1. First off, I want to thank the author for sending me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.Sequels are hit or miss with me. Many times I find that the quality declines sharply from the first book to the second. However, Ironside not only increased the quality I Am the Silence was as good as the first in many ways, and better in others. This book is even more a ghost story than the last, but Ironside still gracefully tackles many important themes that surpass the surface plot. Also, lik [...]

    2. I could not put this book down, I had to know what happened next! Thinking about all the different possible outcomes for each of the little puzzle pieces, I had my suspicions as to certain events but I certainly didn't expect everything that happened, most of the surprises crept up on me quite suddenly, even if the clues had been there if only I'd thought to look. Leaving me with the 'Ohhhh! That was very clever!' moments that I love. I'm glad Emlynn is not perfect, as that would've been too eas [...]

    3. I've heard a lot of people say a second book in a series can land flat. Those people have obviously never read a second book by J.A. Ironside. I belong to the earth was haunting and beautiful and slowly introduced you into this world were magic was real ghosts lived among us and some things were fated whether we liked it or not. I am the silence took all of that and amped it up to ten! With a voice that is confident in her own world now Jules still paints a picture that is hauntingly beautiful b [...]

    4. It’s taking me an appalling long time to write this review, possibly because I’ve found it difficult to express how I feel about this book. After several failed attempts to get it onto paper in an orderly fashion, I have decided to just splurge and see where that goes. Before I begin, it’s important that I give you some context to my feelings: I have an aversion to unplanned sequels. In my experience they tend to spoil the ending of the previous book, usually because there’s been no room l [...]

    5. I am the Silence takes the strong start that was "I Belong to the Earth" and builds on it. This book contains everything that made the first book a joy to read: strong characters, and an engaging story, and builds on those elements. Crucially this book doesn't feel like it is just setting up a sequel, the characters have complete arcs that have satisfying conclusions.
