    1. There are some writers whose work I really enjoy included in this anthology, but I found it all to be a little tedious if I'm being honest. The original story by Gerard Houarner is included here and I'm honestly not sure if it deserved to have an entire anthology of stories centred on the mythos he created with Painfreak. Stories of sex and pain are in abundance, but even the Ed Lee contribution felt a little half-hearted and dare I say.ghtweight?! I think I am done with extreme horror. Very lit [...]

    2. TortureGreat story written by several authors. Lots of torture and sex with no boundaries. Sadism and masochism and nothing left out.

    3. Disturbing on many levels, a joy to read.If you're into twisted, perverse, deviant sort of literature, then Painfreak is a must! One doesn't have to delve far into this book to decide whether or not this is something that has strayed too far from the readers own morality to continue. I found that the stories in this collection were absolute works of art, rare relics for those of us who enjoy reading about the base, evil, degenerate parts within all of us when they are allowed to escape. Each sto [...]

    4. A collection of stories inspired by editor Gerard Houarner's story "Painfreak," about a roving underground club full of depravity. The volume was filled with spelling errors, and the majority of strong stories were those written by authors well-established within the splatterpunk subgenre (e.g Edward Lee, Monica J. O'Rourke, Wrath James White, etc.). The most intense stories were those of Ryan Harding, Monica J. O'Rourke, and John Everson.

    5. I'll have a booktube review coming on this one ~ perfect for fans of the extreme genre or those curious about edgy or splatter horror. All top authors writing on a similar theme, and Painfreak is an admittedly tantalizing theme to begin with!
