    1. Yes, I watched the television series first, which then led me to wanting to read the book that it was loosely based upon. I don't think that I would have ever read the book without having been introduced to it via the television series. But I'm glad that I had the opportunity. My siblings all remember being military brats and living on base, but this predated me. This gave me a glimpse into part of my family's story that has evaded me.
