    1. Samuel Beckett considered Yeats one of the great dramatists of the early 20th century. I, however, find little in his plays that interests me. His verse lacks the flowing rhymes and the beautiful cadences of his lyrical poetry. And he doesn’t have the ability to create interesting, compelling characters. Despite Cuchulain’s appearance in many plays, he never comes alive like Shakespeare’s Macbeth or Brecht’s Galileo. Like Tennyson’s King Arthur, Cuchulain ultimately remains a flat char [...]
