    1. So if Six of Crows gave birth to a baby, this would be that baby. I thought Ace of Shades was a great start to the series. At first I was hesitant, because the author's last book I couldn't get into. However, I really liked these characters. Enne and Levi are no Kaz and Inej, but I still loved them and their distinct personalities, especially Enne's cookie eating fetish! The world building was unique, and the author's writing drew me in right away. Plus, talk of game cards, acrobatics, and magic, [...]

    2. I was sent this book as an advanced copy by the publisher via Edelweiss for reviewing purposes, but all opinions are my own.AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH this book was such a pleasant surprise!!! I haven't read the author's debut yet so I didn't know what to expect, but now I'm looking forward to both continuing the series and keeping an eye out for whatever else she published (as well as reading DotBC).♠ WorldbuildingThe story takes place in New Reynes, a town split in two, and specifically almost al [...]

    3. Very interesting story, quite unlike anything else I've read before. Really enjoyed my time reading this one.

    4. Thieves, rogues, and shady characters have always fascinated me, and so I enjoyed my dive into the morally ambiguous world of New Reynes. House of the Rising Sun meets Six of Crows.

    5. I can see that this book is likely going to get a lot of buzz in the next coming months. This is one of the more entertaining starts to a YA fantasy series that I have read recently, and I think a lot of readers are going to have fun with this novel. While there were some things that could have been stronger, Ace of Shades is a promising start to a series that could go in so many directions. The story follows a young woman, Enne Salta, as she journeys to a place known as the “City of Sin” in s [...]

    6. I've been anticipating this book since I first heard about it last summer and the hype has definitely not let me down.I am desperate for more Enne and Levi and Lola and Jac and New Reynes AHH GIVE ME MORE PLEASE

    7. Yooo, this was everything I wanted it to be. Enne! Levi! My sweet precious children, I love them. ---HELLO YOU HAD ME AT THAT PITCHbut that blurb!i am dead.

    8. Before I start this, let me just give an idea of how I feel about this book since I'm having a hard time finding the right words to explain how I feel:I think you get the idea now.- PlotI won't say too much but the story takes place in a city called New Reynes a.k.a The City of Sin with the main characters being Enne Salta and Levi Glaisyler. Enne is searching her mother in New Reynes, who left a very cryptic message stating that if unforseen circumstances lead Enne to the sinful city, then she [...]

    9. actually so excited for this upcoming novel! i used to love reading stories about spies & mafia (with romance too because i’m such a sop 💓)and i have seemed to have lost touch reading themes like this one. (accept six of crows?? expect not really??)very hyped !!!

    10. Some really interesting aspects and a very fast-paced plot. It was a bit confusing in a few parts, but I'm looking forward to the next book. Full review to come!

    11. This book is everything i didn’t know could be in the same book! I went in expecting a good story, but damn it beat up every expectation.Thank you Harlequin Teen for my advance reader e-copyfull review --> thebookishword.wordpress/

    12. I have read 2.5 drafts of ACE OF SHADES over the last year. And when it's published, and I can finally hold the shiny, gorgeous hardcover in my hands, I will be reading it again. That's how much I love this book. But why? Why do I love it? Well, let's see. Maybe it's the intricate world-building. Maybe it's the magic system. Maybe it's the kick-ass pitch -- SIX OF CROWS meets SPIRITED AWAY. Maybe it's because ACE OF SHADES is a rich, satisfying, complicated story. But honestly, what's happily pro [...]

    13. i remember when i used to know how to wait for books have u ever just wanted something so bad that you wish on so many freaking shooting stars and u use up ur birthday wish and u do every fricking thing you can because you would go to the edge of the universe and back for thisthingand your gasping because your deprived and you just need it so bad and you just want someone to give it to you but they just tell you patience is a virtue andTHATS THIS BOOK.I NEED ITI normally never write reviews befo [...]

    14. This was absolutely marvelous. Look, any book out there promising a quirky city that is twisted and disturbing and magical is sure to catch my attention. I just really love the trope of incorporating a city into the cast of characters, leading to the opportunity to see some excellent world-building and scheming and much, much political intrigue. Creepy cities for the win, is what I’m saying. New Reynes was delightful to read about it. And Amanda Foody’s killer world-building skills were allo [...]

    15. I received a physical ARC at a conference and an eARC through NetGalley.OH👏HELL👏YES!👏This book was not even on my radar. I didn't love Daughter of the Burning City so I wasn't going to touch this but my interest peaked after I saw the cover. Getting this ARC means I am definitely buying it where as I wouldn't have before. The romance is so good and slow burning! I can't stand most insta-loves.cially in situations like this one so thank you for writing it like this! Similarly, I loved the [...]

    16. This one started a touch slow but I really loved it! I was attached to the characters and story was so much fun. Levi was like Kaz’s long lost cousin to me. I loved the character chemistry and dialog- the mix of street and prim was really fun.

    17. *I would like to thank Harlequin Teen and Netgalley for providing me this book in exchange for an honest review.*Back when I requested this book from Netgalley in mid-January, it was so popular that I thought I was never going to be approved for it, and a few days after requesting the book I went on a reviewing hiatus that will last until the summer. That being said, I was just approved for this book last week, and I couldn’t have been more excited to break my hiatus momentarily for a review o [...]

    18. 3.5. This is a book I have *very* mixed feelings on. Hmmmm. It's a book about sin & acrobatics & casinos & gangs & what you're willing to do for those you love. Sin City, or New Reynes, where the story takes place, is constructed beautifully and I loved discovering more about this monstrous city. I was confused by all the gangs and names and casinos at first, but I got the hang of everything by the middle of the story. One of the main characters is a Black bisexual man, and I lov [...]

    19. 3.5 stars! I honestly don't know if I want to round up or down (curse you for not having half starts still!). Some really cool storytelling here. I particularly loved the idea of people having certain talents that are associated by name. I really liked the commraderie between the two main characters, Levi and Enne, in the wake of danger with the romance only beginning to bloom. On the downside, there was just something about the book that I couldn't completely connect with and I'm not sure I ca [...]

    20. Content warnings: Violence, gore, excessive gambling, death of a loved oneThis book was a RIDE, and I mean that in the best possible way. I finished this an hour ago and I'm still shook. So, enjoy my potentially less-than-coherent thoughts. She was a blade disguised as a girl.ENNE: THE PRINCESS TURNED PAWN TURNED QUEENThe novel starts with Enne Salta, a prim and proper lady with aspirations of breaking into society, entering New Reynes to find her missing mother. Rumor has it that nobody leaves N [...]

    21. Take a card and stake your soulLove that line and love the cover! I am so ready for a good gambling adventure.

    22. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for providing an Arc‘After all, they were both trapped in the same, unspeakable cage. Such a bond might not have meant much to Enne, but it meant something to him.’This could sum up this book perfectly. Things happens even thou they apparently makes no sense.Sorry, I really tried to like it but i had the same feeling I had while I was reading Shadowhunters (sorry readers) and Caraval: great ideas with poor development.Ace of Shades was one of my most anticipated reads fo [...]

    23. absolutely as amazing as i imagined and darker and more delicious than i imagined. i am literally too shocked for words and had TOO MANY EMOTIONS. Review to come
