    1. 4.25.Quick review here. Loved the characters in this romance. Strong, multi dementional characters with wonderful story line. A romance that was sweet, spicy and rich in feeling. Marion was a determined yet gentle and kind heroine who wanted to be loved and have a family. Iain was a strong (with a hidden sweet side) Scott who lost the wife he loved and swore he'd never love again. The two are forced/made to marry. The romance is a lovely thing to behold in that it builds and grows from attractio [...]

    2. Excellently written highlander romance. It had such great characters a very good story. Well recommended.

    3. When I heard that author, Julie Johnstone was writing a medieval tale with a brooding Scottish rogue, I was elated. I truly enjoy everything Ms. Johnstone has written and consider her a go-to author. When a Laird Loves A Lady is a fabulous first in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts series. Two very different people not so different in their wants and desires. Marion de Lacey is being used by her father for a means to his misguided ends and Marion wants no part of it. Her traitorous father ha [...]

    4. Highlander sensuality, protectiveness, intensity. . . There are some reading material that I will drop everything for. It just so happen that When a Laird Loves a Lady was one of them. Hot, hunky, highland lover tops the charts for reads that I have to have. And let us not for get the sexy brogue. I have this one on my must read again and again. I look forward to each new addition to this series. I will keep a look out. Two people with different in the make up and similar in the needs and desire [...]

    5. This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be the last. I give 5 stars when the book is well written, very minor grammar or editing errors, and when the story holds my attention and I want to read it all in one sitting. Marion de Lacy, 1/2 English, 1/2 Scot, is ordered by King Edward to marry Scottish Laird Iain MacLeod as her father plots to take Edward's throne. Iain agrees to marry her in the hope that Edward will release King David of Scotland. Iain is a widower and has swo [...]

    6. I am sorry to say I did not like When A Laird Loves A Lady!! The storyline was not appealing to me at all.Lady Mairon de Lacy has been order by her father Baron deLacy to marry Sir William Froste. A man she can't abide. After pleading with her father and he ruthlessly beating her Marion fakes her death. Iain MacLeod has tried in vain to gain the release of the Scottish King David from his imprisonment in England. King Edward of England has demanded that Iain marry Baron de Lacy's daughter Marion [...]

    7. Fascinating heartwarming and emotional story that I simply could not put this book down! This was a first novel I ever read by the talented Julie Johnstone, but it certainly won't be the last as I whole heartedly absolutely loved this book! The author did such impressive and remarkable research on the Clan MacLeod history and as they did reside at Dunvegan Castle which is on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Now if ever visiting Scotland, they do offer tours to visit this beautiful castle surrounded [...]

    8. When A Laird Loves A Lady is #1 in the exciting new "Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts" series. WOW! What a fast paced, set on the edge of your seat, passion filled, adventuous, dangerous and romantic story. With betrayal, treason, treachery and amidst it all hopefully, love. What more could a Medevial Romance fan wish? Can love find it's way into the heart of a unyielding Highlander, Lain MacLeod, who has lost so much, including his frail but beloved wife? Then, he's commanded to marry an Engli [...]

    9. This was a gritty and intriguing story. Because of the lack of love in her home life, Marion wanted only to marry for love. Her father has other plans. Iain lost the love of his life and is determined to never love again. The fates do not again. To rescue his King, Iain must marry Marion as part of a strategic alliance. Marion and Iain fight their feelings through their adventures until there is no question. At points throughout the story, I felt so connected to some of the characters and I look [...]

    10. Oh, the feels from this book. Marion de Lacey is a lovely blend of sweet and feisty, but without acting irrationally. She just wants to be loved for who she is. Why is that so much to ask? I can't fathom living in a time period where women were treated as property, so these stories always fascinate me. When an author takes a woman from these time periods and makes her strong ah, a match made in heaven. I love it.I almost didn't read this book because of a few of the reviews that expressed frust [...]

    11. I adore Ms. Johnstone's writing and when I heard she was going to write her first Medieval story, I did a happy dance and was not disappointed. As with her other books, the scenes are descriptive. The characters are ones you can relate to even when you want to wring their necks. The story has the right blend of emotion and humor. There's treachery and treason at work and I was immediately drawn into this world and didn't want to stop reading until the end. The heroine, Marion, is beaten but not b [...]

    12. Another day, another Sexually Objectified Scotsman novel. I read this to help manage my stress at uni and I finished it last night when I couldn't sleep. I liked the main female protagonist, Marion. She had a little more guts than your usual romance heroine. I didn't mind the male lead either but why is total jealousy totally okay in this book? Can someone please explain to me why that's okay? The plot was fairly standard. There were some nice twists in it though, but I skim-read most of it and [...]

    13. I always love Julie Johnstone's books. This time she wrote about my favourite historical genre: medieval romance so I enjoyed it even more than ever! Marion and Ian are two strong characters, full of life, idealists and very afraid to love. He lost her first wife, Catriona and he feels he cannot love again. She tried to win her father's love without any success. The book is fast -paced, full of action and an amazing plot! I loved it!The second characters are also amazing and makes me wonder whose [...]

    14. Iain could be a sweet man, intimidating, but sweet, “be still a minute, Marion. I’m intent on being slow and tender with ye, but if ye move at all, I’m afraid I’ll take ye like a mindless beast, I want ye that much.” Iain had his moments of crazy man tantrums but for the most part he was sweet, “ye are mine always,” he growled, sweeping her legs up over his arms. “But I’ll be happy to answer yer plea one touch at a time.” I enjoyed this book I liked Iain I can't wait to see i [...]

    15. Julie has written a masterpiece here. The way the words of this story flowed and intertwined beautifully is mesmerizing. I could not put this book down because each page is a mystery that has me eager to turn the next page to find out what is going to happen next.Iain, laird of a fierce clan in the highlands, was forced to marry Marion, a sassenach, by the English king in order to secure the release of the king of Scotland from being held captive by the English king.In the meanwhile Marion fathe [...]

    16. He felt as if he had suddenly been robbed of his ability to breathe. His lungs tightened. Love. He had no use for the emotion or the word. It pained him to know what he was about to say would hurt her, but he wanted to be certain she understood. ‘I want no part of love.’ She quickly glanced back up at him, her gaze locking with his, and her lips parted slightly. ‘You cannot mean that.’ The misery that still haunted him from losing Catriona wedged especially heavey in this moment when fac [...]

    17. When a Laird Loves a Lady (Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts, #1)by Julie Johnstone “A need to belong drives her. A longing to forget compels him. Fate may send them into each other’s arms, but only love can mend their hearts.”I love reading historical romance fiction and this one is fantastic. I loved reading about Marion and how her Father was going to marry her off to someone that she didn’t love because of land, that is how they did it back in the 1300’s. I love how Marion’s atti [...]

    21. This was my first book by Julie Johnstone. I have no idea how her books have escaped my attention up to now but I can assure you it won't happen again. Set in medieval Scotland, When a Laird Loves a Lady is a fast-paced, action-packed story filled with intrigue and betrayal. It's also a passionate, poignant romance between a bold, loyal, and loving young Englishwoman who yearns for a family that will love her and not view her only as a political pawn and an honorable Scottish laird who buried hi [...]

    22. I've never read a Highlander romance before, but I am so glad that this was my first! This was an amazing story set in 14th century Scotland. Marion de Lacy, in a desperate attempt to escape from an arranged marriage and a tyrannical father, finds herself suddenly married to Iain MacLeod, a man who has suffered loss and has no intentions of dealing with heartbreak again. The story is fast-paced and full of danger, adventure, and romance. I love Marion, as she is a strong-willed woman, loyal and [...]

Marion has planned to fake her death and run away to Scotland. Iain MacLeod has been ordered buy King Edward to marry a particular English woman before he will even talk about freeing the Scottish King David from captivity. Iain is a widower , who is st [...]

    24. I enjoy Ms. Johnstone’s writing style and stories very much…and this latest is a wonderful addition to her accomplishments. The English heroine (Marion) has led a sheltered life under a cruel, unloving father who wants to marry her to another cruel man to further his political interests. The Scottish hero (Iain McLeod) is still grieving over the death of his first wife when he is ordered by King Edward to marry Marion. And then ensues a lively to-and-fro courtship between a reluctant but daz [...]

    25. I loved this book! It felt like it was packed with everything. From action, to mystery, to humour and then my favourite, romance. Iain and Marion were so sweet and so great together. Angus was nice. Bridgette was cool. All the characters were well done. This had me feeling all the feels. I really, really enjoyed this book! Is there another book? I really want to read about Bridgette, Lachlan and Graham. Want to see who she ends up being with.
