    1. Great addition to the Appalachian Magic series! (This is book 1 and reads like a stand alone. No cliffhangers) Not only was Callie & James' story a gripping tale of witches and immortals, it had me googling things like Dismals Caverns, the Battle of Selma, dismalites and thunderstones. It's clear that Herbert does her research on a variety of topics and it gives the story a depth not found as often as one would like in new adult. Fantastic addition to the paranormal new adult genre!

    2. I loaded this book on my Kindle for a six-hour flight. I thought I'd take an innocent sneak peak the day before departure just to get the gist of the storyline. I couldn't put it down. Guess what I'll be reading on the flight? Book #2 in the series!

    3. If you are looking for a good paranormal book to read with some romance thrown in then this one is for you. Note: don't forget the world you are going to step into is one filled with immortals, witches, warlocks, and plenty of suspense and action. This book kept me wondering what might happen next with every turn of the page, and provided a much needed escape to a new world. Callie the main character had such a good heart, which lead me to really connect with her. I loved being able to connect wi [...]

    4. Action, Adventure, Magic and Love what more can you ask for. Loved the descriptions of the area and people of this series. Was a great start of what promises to be an amazing series. Such a gripping story I could not put it down last night. Callie is not your ordinary witch and James is not your ordinary teenage boy. Their story pulls you into a wold that is a cross between Charmed (TV series) and The Highlander (Both awesome entertainment in my humble opinion). Looking forward to anther visit t [...]

    5. Great Read.I found this book to be lighter and fresh. Different. There was some angst. There was some mystery. There was some romance. But not the heavy kind. I'm addicted to PNR. This book has witches and Immortals. The love story kept me turning the pages. I totally enjoyed this book. I have to get the next one Pam James.

    6. I loved Callie and James! The plot was expertly woven and I couldn't stop reading! The concept of two different paranormals and the doomed Romeo and Juliet romance would normally drive me crazy, but this one was great. As soon as I finished this book, I started on book 2, focusing on two different supernatural species and a different character. Fantastic series! Five glittery stars!

    7. The Dark Seas series from Harlequin is one of my all-time favorites in the Nocturne line, and the talent of Debbie Herbert to create enthralling paranormal stories makes her Appalachian Magic series equally fascinating. A New Adult romance, the first book has a witch with a complicated background becoming involved with an immortal who is very wary of her kind. Throughout their complicated relationship, difficult choices must be made when futures are at stake. CHARMED AND DANGEROUS is magically e [...]

    8. Charmed and Dangerous: Appalachian Magic Series By Debbie Herbert5 starsReviewed by Char Webster for Late Night Books and ReviewsCharmed and Dangerous is the second book in the Appalachian Series. I really like this series because the story lines are awesome and they can be stand-alone books. Some of the characters overlap and enhance each other’s stories, but you can read the books out of order. The second book actually takes place before the first book.Magic is definitely in the Appalachian [...]

    10. This story starts off with young Callie and her best friend having a bad experience from using a Ouija board. She is sent to live with her aunt! Six years later, Callie is asked to come back home and she is full of resentment not understanding the reasons why she was sent away in the first place. As a young, talented witch, it is believed that she has the potential of becoming very powerful on her birthday. She is not totally convinced. James is Immortal and lives with his father who has a very [...]

    12. When Callie and her best friend Skye mess with the Ouija board one night when they were 12, Callie's life gets changed forever. She gets sent away to live with her aunt in New Jersey to keep her safe from the danger that's to come. Callie is supposed to become a super witch when she turns 20 on the Summer Solstice. When she comes back home 7 years after being sent away, she runs into James, an immortal. They fall for each other but immortals are taught to stay away from witches for the fear of b [...]

    13. Witches, immortals and a charming good time. A sweet ya story that had the romance, fantasy, and adventure to keep the story flowing well. I enjoyed the story, I only wish it wasn't so full of cliches. I'm also not a fan of instant love and wish there was more development in their relationship. All in all the story was good but a typical fantasy ya read. I would've loved something more unique.I reviewed a copy in exchange for an honest review.

    14. This is such a great start to a new, compelling paranormal romance series. And New Adult, to boot! Aren't that many of those around--yet. ;)I absolutely love the detail the author puts into her stories. You can tell she did tons of research on all things witchy, and it enhances the plot and characterization so well. There's an interesting twist on Highlander myths (think the old series of movies), Wicca lore and traditions, and of course a swoon-worthy romance. :)

    15. I like witchy books, especially ones filled with secrets and lies, so I sped through Charmed and Dangerous. Part of what kept me glued to the pages was the detailed writing. The settings were incredibly vivid, and the witchcraft aspects were seamlessly weaved into the story. It was really interesting reading!

    16. This was a nice read. The only major things that annoyed me was Callie's resentment towards her mother and the scepticism she had towards believing that her family would be telling the truth about her father. The only other thing that bugged me a bit, was the vagueness surrounding how an immortal is made.

    17. I love a good witch book!!If you like paranormal reads, this one should be on your reader. A young witch sent away from home, for her own protection, is coming of age. When she is told to come home, her defenses are up. Lies told to protect, sometimes have a way of biting you on the arse. Especially when it's your father out to get you!!!

    18. This was the first work I've read of Debbie Herbert, and I was not disappointed. Anything that is fresh and original keeps my attention. Callie's story was paced well and kept me guessing. The original spells were beautiful. And last, but not least. I really loved the characters. I wanted to know more about James (of course), Lucas, and Mabel, but I feel that the information given was appropriate and I was satisfied reading the whole thing. I just started the next book, Changeling (about Skye), [...]

    19. I loved the storyline, basically a love story in the making but yes I love a good book that contains WitchCraft and this book contains good threatened by bad.James sees Callie and well he likes her, Callie sees James and well she likes him. He is an Immortal & she is a witch. James has been told for many a year that witches are bad news and Callie is unaware that Immortals are around.Love the characters and the various scenes

    20. Magical love affair that will last foreverAccount witch, born on the day of Solstice is expected to become very powerful. Her dark Father wants to use her to gain control of the world, her Mother wants her to live a good and wholesome life. Battles begin and a handsome stranger comes in to Callie's life. Which side will she choose? Good or bad? Light or dark? Will the handsome stranger be the one she will love forever. Forever is a very long time.

    21. Great Book When I first started this book I was at the same time reading another one because I love reading so much that I sometimes read two books at once, but once I started reading this book well I got hooked by page 3 and then this book had my full and undivided attention because it is that good of a book and I really look forward to reading the next book in this series

    22. So disappointedBased on the setting, I was excited to jump into this one. The story line itself was somewhat interesting which kept me going for way longer than I thought, but the writing itself was poor. It needed a lot more show and less tell. It was predictable and lacked detail that created rounded characters and interesting lot movement.

    23. I honestly didn't make it far. Didn't really care for the characters so it was hard to get through the beginning. I like the writing and would give another series or stand-alone a chance by this author.

    24. Good of Its KindThis is an interesting mix of witches and immortals and a young girl caught between good and evil. Her choices will affect all the people she loves. It's good of its kind, a YA, though with some sexual content, appropriate and loving sex, but sex nonetheless.

    25. Good charactersI liked the characters and story. Fast read and good pace. The dialogue was a little strained at times, though.

    26. WitchesExcellent read lots of great characters and legendary lore, young love, lost love, and twists and turns fast-paced and fun plenty of romance with plenty of action

    27. Wonderful readA quick but enjoyable read. Witches and immortals, love, hate and power. All spell for a very good book to read. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

    28. Great 1st book! This is a great series starter. I really liked reading about the immortals and witches. I am looking forward to reading the entire series.

    29. Fell in Love!I enjoyed reading about Callie and her family. I look forward to reading book 2 of the series and seeing where Calli and James end up!
