Little did Thomas Shear know, he may need Ghostbusters, too. 2. Review originally posted on citygirlscapes. When I was asked to review Portrait of Rage by Cynthia H. Wise, I have to admit that I was a little hesitant. There hasn’t been many reviews on and I had never worked with this author before. But the plot sounded interesting and right up my alley, so I decided to give it a read and I’m happy to say that my only regret in picking this up was that I wasn’t able to read it closer to Halloween. There was a lot happening in the story, from supernatural [...]

    3. Disclosure: I received a review copy from the author in exchange for a honest review.Portrait of Rage was a big, big surprise. I knew it was going to be good but it went beyond my expectations. I was captivated within the first few pages and it had me hooked till the very end. The story is centered on an artist and a murder investigation. Thomas Sharp, our main character, recently purchased a perfect house to showcase his art, but what he didn’t except was it to be haunted little girls all und [...]

Each chapter perfectly pushes the story forward an inch or mile depending on where you are in the text. I wouldn’t call it a fast-paced read but there was no moment where it was slow either. In my opinion, Cynthia Wise is a master of the slow, chilling s [...]

    5. At first I wasn't too sure about this book, just because it was new. However, I do love a good paranormal story, so went ahead and jumped in; it only took the Prologue before I was hooked! Mrs. Wise started the story so well and creepily, yet real life, that I couldn't put the book down. Soon the Prologue turned into Chapter 1, then 2, then 3, etc. Before I knew it, it was time to make dinner and start being productive because th day had gotten away from me. The next day, I picked up the book an [...]

    6. This was a really good book. My girlfriend had just read it and kept trying to give it to me to thumb through. Finally I did, and I have to say, I started reading it and enjoyed every bit. I am not a fast reader by any means, but the story was really captivating and it kept my interest. I read it off and on for several weeks until I finished. I would recommend it as a really good story with ghosts, murders, and some romance.

    8. Portrait of Rage by Cynthia H. Wise is the first book in The Marcel Experience. It is about a painter, Thomas Shear, who moves into a new house. He then begins to paint portraits of murdered little girls, which is just the tip of the iceberg in this story. It was full of mystery and suspense that I just couldn't stop reading. My only problem with this story is the ending. I felt the ending just didn't go with the story. It must be introduced in the second installment, which I haven't read. If no [...]
