    1. I couldn’t write a review straight away after finishing this book because I couldn’t see through the tears (of joy). This is a really moving second chance romance with so many twists and turns you doubt it reaching a HEA after all until very near the end. It is a heartwarming tale of love lost, reconnected and new opportunities but with obstacles to overcome first.Katie Warham is dreading Christmas with her family. They won’t all be there because she recently lost her beloved grandmother w [...]

    2. The title of Wish Upon a Christmas Cake by Darcie Boleyn is delicious, and the second chance romance woven into this story was just as delicious. I had no problem falling into this story that made me feel like it was already Christmas!Darcie evokes a host of emotions through out Wish Upon a Christmas Cake as Katie very reluctantly goes home for Christmas. When she gets there, nothing is as expected and over a few days her life and her feelings change so much. For a long time, Katie has been all [...]

    3. My original review can be found at carleneinspired.A warm, Christmas story of second chances, love, loss, and family.Katie has thought of everything to avoid Christmas with her family. She could stay at home taking care of her cake shop, Crumbtious Cakes, and avoid family entirely. The Christmas spirit wins though and an unexpected visitor is there to meet her under the mistletoe. Her first love, and now widower, Sam is joining the family Christmas with his two children, two dogs, and a lot of u [...]

The cover is simply stunning, and I think the team from Carina UK had done an amazing job on the cover art.'Wish Upon a Christmas Cake' is a story about old sweethearts, and I absolutely adore those kind of stories. Katie and Sam used to be together (for years actually), but after an unfortunate [...]

    5. Wish Upon a Christmas Cake is very much a story of loss and true love with a sprinkling of Christmas thrown in for good measure.Katie has never really got over her first love Sam, they have a lot of history together so when she turns up at a wonderful manor house which has been hired out especially for a family get together for Christmas with her family and Sam is there, lets just say she is faced with a whole load of emotions that come rushing to the surface.Katie is a woman with her head screw [...]

    6. What a wonderful Christmassy read. Katie is dreading going to spend Christmas with her family and when she turns up, her first love meets her there unexpectedly. He's now a widower with two young children. The Christmas sounds so lovely with everyone pitching in to make it a wonderful time for the two little ones. You can feel the joy in the shopping and the skating trip and choosing a tree.It totally wraps you up and makes you want to carry on reading. Lots of romantic interest and characters y [...]

    7. Three stars: A holiday romance that starts off with holiday feels and cheer, but then it goes downhill. Katie plops down on the sofa in her cozy bakeshop. It has been a long day, and she wants to relax, but she must prepare for her family Christmas, which she isn't looking forward to. This will be the first Christmas without her beloved Granny. Besides, Katie never enjoys the drama that incurs when she spends time with her mother. Still, her parents are moving to France, so this may be the last [...]

    8. If your looking for your perfect festive read to curl up to on a Sunday afternoon then I cannot recommend this book enough - I loved it that much I finished it in one sitting, which is rare for me of late as I've been so busy.Katie Warham is the main character in the book, she comes across as a kind yet sensitive soul, but one that is living her dream running her own cake business, Crumbsious, or so she thinks! As Christmas approaches, Katie is dreading spending time with her family, particularly [...]

    9. 4.5 StarsWish upon a Christmas Cake is a beautiful and heart warming tale, that really tugged at my heart strings. There is a lot of emotion and feeling that has been poured into this book, and it is delightfully told. Katie Warham runs a tearoom, Crumbitious and is sort of dreading the family Christmas she has agreed to attend. Her beloved Granny only died 2 months ago and the pain is still raw. So she makes a wish upon her Christmas Cake to have the best Christmas ever. What she wasn't expecti [...]

    10. What a gorgeously delicious book this is! It just makes me wish I was reading it by a roaring fire, with snow outside on the ground and a plate full of mince pies beside me!The lovely Katie runs her own tearoom with her friend Ann and has thrown herself into her business after a traumatic loss 9 years ago. She is invited to spend a family Christmas with her family, including her parents and her brother Karl, and also Sam who was her first love. Sam is a recent widower with 2 small children but t [...]

    11. This review was first published at M's Bookshelf - mssbookshelfThis is hands down one of the most heartwarming Christmas stories I've read. Both cover and title are cute and have the promise of a fun, romantic winter read. After just a few chapters however, it was quite clear that Wish Upon a Christmas Cake would be much more than just 'cute and fun'. It really got to me. It's emotional and passionate, heartwarming and hopeful with a bit of humour. The issues Darcie's characters have to deal with [...]

    12. Katie and her best friend Ann run Crumbtious Cakes, a small tearoom that has been their shared dream for so many years, it was a way for Katie to move forward after her life fell apart nine years ago following a traumatic loss. Now, she has to deal with another loss, her beloved Granny has passed away and now she and the Warham family face their first Christmas without the matriarch. If this wasn't enough, Katie knows she will have to face her mother Esther. She and Esther do not see eye to eye [...]

    13. I must say I absolutely adore this Christmassy book cover! My only wish I had the printed version of this novel because it would be displayed right at the top of my bookshelf but not only the book cover is gorgeous I also fell in love with Katie's Warham story! What a stunning debut by Darcie Boleyn. When I requested this book (via NetGalley) I could not wait todive inside its pages and devour it in one go but then I spotted Jenny in Neverland planning to host a blog tour, and I jumped at the cha [...]

    14. Usually I like to read at least one Christmas or wintery book at this time of the year but this is my ninth Christmas based book so far! I don't know if it's been a bumper year for Christmas reads this year but I have read so many lovely Christmas stories. Wish Upon a Christmas Cake is another romantic, festive read. Katie has immersed herself in her business since breaking up with her cheating boyfriend, Harrison, earlier in the year. Her business is a cake shop with the wonderful name of Crumb [...]

    15. Christmas is meant to be the most wonderful time of the year, but as we all know that isn’t always so. Katie Warham has just one wish this year, to have the best Christmas ever. Personally, Katie would rather lock herself away in her cosy little tearoom baking cakes instead of spending the festive season with her judgemental mother, crazy Aunt Gina and her loved-up celebrity brother, Karl. But she knows it is important that she does so especially as it is the first Christmas without her Granny [...]

    16. Let me just admit right here that I am not the world's most festive person, but something about this book really warmed my heart for the festive season and I'm now wishing for a white Christmas.I am always a little skeptical of a will they won't they romance novel, however something about the pairing of Katie and the delectable Sam truly captured me, to the point that in sections of the novel I had a full on crying moment, yes full tears rolling down the face, bit of mascara the whole works whil [...]

    17. First reviewed at Keeper BookshelfKatie would almost rather skip Christmas this year… but she knows the reality of life and her family. So she’s heading for the gathering with a wish for a wonderful Christmas never thinking that her wish is truly about to be granted. She expected to find the loving eccentric family she adored – she never expected to find Sam and his two kids as well. The man she had loved, the one that no one since has been able to live up to Sam. How was she supposed to su [...]

    18. I read somewhere once, that your grandparents held the frontline against death. When they were gone, it was up to your parents. When they were goneWish Upon A Christmas Cake is a story of love, loss and second chances. The premise sounded really good, and the story is quite decent. But I felt the story was twice as long as it needed to be. Throughout the story, Katie is plagued with indecision. I can understand why, but it still got a bit tedious to read her thinking the same thoughts again and [...]

    19. What a lovely, feel good, festive story this is. It is the perfect book to read while curled up on a winters day on the sofa.I love this time of year because we get books coming out which are nice, simple stories with a lot of laughs, some tears, and no in your face adult scenes! This book is exactly that. The story is a simple enough one of lost loves being reunited many years, and relationships, later. There are obvious complications, so it isn't as easy as simply meeting again. There are also [...]

    20. I really enjoyed this book it was full of drama, friendship, romance and had me laughing from the first chapter right to the very end. But in some parts had me feeling a little teary but I found this all added to the story. The characters where all relatable especially Katie who is the main character and I found I really connected with her the most and found she was like me in a lot of ways. She seemed very laid back but then she could worry a lot about what people think and how people see her, b [...]

    21. Katie loved Sam, years previously she lost their baby & decided they weren’t meant to be together. She moved on to Harrison but he couldn’t compare & she finds herself single again. It’s nearing Christmas & Katie is longing for a lovely peaceful festive season. She is due to spend the holidays with her parents, aunt, brother etc while busy at work in her precious bakery business that she runs with her best friend she makes a wish upon the Christmas cake but what will the outcome [...]

    22. I really enjoyed this book. It's a great story about loss and love and how when you least expect it, things can take a turnr the better. The characters in this book are very dynamic and Sam's two children offered comic relief at moments when I was tearing up. Overall, a great read for the Christmas season!*Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley. However, all opinions are my own.*

    23. This is such a lovely festive read but you certainly don't have to wait for Christmas to be in the mood for this book. Grab yourself a cup of tea and a slice of cake, put the heating on and lose yourself in this book based on Katie's and Sam's world. If you like the warm feeling in your tummy of a romantic feel good factor book, then this one written by Darcie Boleyn should be up there on the top of your list. 5 shinning stars

    24. A story of hope lost and hope found. This is a heartwarming story perfect for those cozy Christmas days that you would love to sit with a hot beverage, read and forget about the world. Loved the pace of this book and all the positive things reflected on it. Praise Darcie Boleyn for her well written and fantastic romance story.Note: I received a digital copy from Netgalley for review purposes.

    25. eARC: NetgalleyTender sweet love story but, fair warning, you might shed a few tears along the way. Katie and Sam's story tugs on the heartstrings but in a very good way! Kick off the Christmas season with this lovely romance!

    26. It took me so long to finish this, I don't know why. The story is nice though, about baking, family relationships, friendship, lost love and it's about the celebration of Christmas of course.

    27. Very much a chick-lit kind of Christmas romance. Pretty unsubstantial. I read it yesterday and when I saw the title I couldn't remember what it was about for a minute.

    28. I have to be honest here and say that thee are many books that have been written lately about cakes, cooking, baking etc and I have not read any of them! So when I was asked if I would read this one I had to give it a go because it had “Christmas” in the title!!Baking and cakes didn’t feature too much in this story other than the lead character Katie Warham part owns a bakery shop with her friend Ann.Katie is leaving Ann in charge of the shop to spend Christmas with her parents before they [...]

    29. I really enjoyed this festive read from Darcie Boleyn. It perfectly captures the feelings we all have when we look around the Christmas table and the people who are missing from the family. The book covers Katie's first christmas following the death of her beloved Granny. Faced with being surrounded by her entire family - including an over-critical mother - she is not exactly looking forward to Christmas, but then she discovers her ex-boyfriend and first love Sam is also there with his two chi [...]
