    1. Peter and Lisa: A Mental Illness Children's Story is a beautifully illustrated book that goes along with the story inside perfectly. Charles Katz and Lind Baron Katz both have created a book suited for children that shows what a mental illness is like and how to get help. They also show children that those with a mental illness are normal people too. They they can live a happy life just like those without a mental illness. The story also, shows that the people don't always know that they have a [...]

    2. I appreciated the professionally-done imagery in this children's book, as well as the powerful and well-developed story in its pages. What is more, I appreciated the way this book acted as a companion piece to other books for adults that I have recently encountered on this topic (Linda Katz's own book, Surviving Mental Illness). This reminded me of the way the book Wonder has worked so well with a children's book adaptation. Each story works well and remarkably on its own.Literature for young chi [...]

    3. An interesting way to teach young children about mental illness, but I wonder why anyone would use this unless their children are experiencing it. Still, it was well written and well done.

    4. Given To Me For An Honest ReviewPeter and Lisa: A Mental Illness Story by CHarles Katz & Linda Baran Katz is a must read for all. I also believe that it's a must have for every bookshelf too. This is a special child's book about mental illness. It is written in a way that children can understand it without frightning or confusing them about the subject. They read about two adults who suffer from depression and mania. This is a simple book that shows how understanding of difficulties can be w [...]

    5. When someone is diagnosed with a mental illness, it doesn’t just affect him/her; it creates a ripple effect that can devastate everyone in their lives. Friends and family try everything, only to find that they cannot “fix” the situation. In fact, they can make things worse for the person trying to get well. However, with time and the right help, they can learn the best ways to show their loved one support. For children, this struggle is particularly difficult. Always at the mercy of the ad [...]

    6. 'Peter & Lisa' puts the subject of mental illness on the table for discussion and helps children to identify with it. As adults, we are likely to think about the complexities of mental illness. In contrast, children often need only simple explanations. 'Peter & Lisa' does just that- it strips the subject down to straight forward feelings, thoughts and actions, making it easier for young children to grasp. Illustrations are a tad bland, but story is a helpful read for children who need to [...]

    7. Mental illness is something that really isn’t spoken about very often, particularly to children. 9. Peter and Lisa are friends. They like each other but something is getting in the way of them truly getting to know each other. Peter has a deep sadness and Lisa has severe mood swings and often yells at her daughter. Lisa goes to a hospital and is put on medication that eventually helps her. When Lisa is better she visits Peter and helps him by getting him to a doctor. Soon they are both better with their emotional problems and become better friends.Authors Charles and Linda Katz created a story [...]

    11. How do you help children to understand when a parent or loved one is afflicted with a mental illness?Until recently, the only answer I had was "beats the hell out of me."Peter & Lisa by Charles Katz and Linda Baron Katz fills that vacancy. Its frank, direct, and easy for any young child to understand.

    12. this was a good book for children. i think what would have made it better would be written from the child's perspective, but then it may not stay a children's book.
