    1. Fantastic book revealing the extraordinary story of a young Australian in the Great Escape. Much more than your average history book, this is a truly moving story of an incredible part of history

    2. Ms Williams' retelling of one of the most incredible true stories of all time is nothing short of breathtaking; meticulously studied and beautifully crafted into a piece equal parts tragic and uplifting. A must read for anyone with even a passing interest in the events at Stalag Luft 3 - as well as a truly fitting tribute to the amazing life of John Williams, a man for whom the epithet "hero" seems inadequate.

    3. What an adventure John Williams had. What a misfortune !a very well researched and writtenstory. Can't help thinking of digging a 2ft 6 inch square tunnel x 3 these men were a differentdetermined breed !!

    4. This is a wonderful book full of human emotion and great heroism and love. It provides an Australian incite into part of the second world war and the era leading up to it. I could not put it down.
