    1. I was curious to see how Felipe Adan Lerma would meet the experimental challenge of writing a 5,000 word short story and still maintain all the elements that make a story work. I wasn’t disappointed – for me it was a success, and a compelling well-written read. Jack Daniels and Sam Lacroix are two women with a law enforcement background, who meet by chance on their way into a conference centre where they have agreed to talk on children’s safety. Their meeting in the entrance is also our in [...]

    2. This was a great short read, i felt that the main characters Sam and Jack both females held the lead just perfect. The tale start's off quickly with a fatal shooting at a convention, we are then thrown straight into the action and the hunt for the gunmen is started. I felt i had a good view point from each of the characters involved, the build up was just right and you did feel that the hunt could take an unexpected turn for the worse with each passing moment. The structure of the story held firm [...]

    3. A fun, quick read. I look forward to more Sam Lacroix stories. This was my first read from author Felipe Adan Lerma. It was nice to pick up where the Jack Daniels series left off with Jack married and having a young child. This story includes a sense of the new Jack Daniels as a mother. Some of the thoughts that only having a child can Jack is introduced to a likeable female character, Sam Lacroix, a straight-shooter ex-cop from Texas. While trying to help a pair of guards out of a precarious sit [...]

    4. There ain't nothing like a dame -- or in this case, two:One is known for shooting first and asking questions later, and the other has lots of questions, and may never get around to shooting—if no one forces her to. Konrath's Jack and Lerma's Sam meet over what appears to be an unfortunate kidnapping. Thankfully they're both there, since it takes both of them collaborating from their disparate approaches to figure out the solution to their dilemma. The one thing they both agree on is that for t [...]

    5. An Unforeseen Conventional Morning is a great lttle short. I loved the characters of Jack and Sam, they are so different yet together they become strong, humourous and thoughtful characters. At first I thought of Cagney and Lacey but after a few pages this wasn't the case, Jack Daniels and Sam Lacroix are characters in their own right. The story, as a whole, has substance and it has been woven well to deliver a lot of action and information into such a small space. It is very fast paced and I fi [...]

    6. My first Kindle Worlds short story. Written for Joe Konrath's Jack Daniels Kindle World. This was great fun for me to write, joining my female protagonist, Sam (Samantha Lacroix) with Joe's iconic Jack Daniels. In this short but dense adventure, I got to feel the excitement of Jack's personality mesh with my own character, generating humor, action, and some surprising interaction between the two.Using short segments, changing pov's, and several settings within a larger unified setting, I worked [...]
