    1. This story involves a rescue mission across interplanetary space - and the object of the rescue is a child whose blood can save her race from a killer disease. So a double rescue is involved, and then the spacecraft crashlands is all hope lost? I don't want to give away the ending so suffice to say that a gentle romance is threaded through the tale, with some fantastical elements which resemble magic but might of course be an advance in science we just haven't managed to unravel yet. This is a f [...]

    2. One of my beta-readers told me that this story reminded him of the science fiction and fantasy books he loved reading when he was in college (in late 1960's and early 1970's) before those genres became harsh, cold and violent - that The Blood was just a really good story. It has been a delight to write the stories of Renloret, Taryn, Ani and Kela. These characters have been around me for a while and I am so pleased that the first story is now available to be shared with you. The best part is know [...]

    3. I loved this book! SciFi/Fantasy is not the usual genre I read but I was drawn in from the very 1st page not wanting to put it down - my husband read it in 2 days! The prose flowed and the scenes and storyline were wonderful - great descriptions, and some tense moments. I found myself reading faster to find out what was about to happen but slowed myself down in order to enjoy each passing scene. Especially loved the dog and the dance! Am looking forward to the next book!

    4. I won this book in a giveaway.First of all, I want to thank the author for the opportunity to be able to read this book. I really appreciated it.To the writing style (etc.) :I like the cover and the layout inside at the beginning of each chapter.I don't really understand what kind of perspectives the ones used are supposed to be but I like the idea that they're focusing alternately on different characters and that the perspectives shift so one can only see from that perspective at that moment.A [...]

    5. The child is the cure, the five-sun-cycles-old child and her blood may be their only hope for a future. Even cloning, evidence shown that all females are hard-coded to develop the disease should they become pregnant through the cloning process. They need a true cure the commander's daughter is their only hope. Renloret rescue mission pilot to seek, The Blood. A crash in the canyon, Kela waking Ani but Kela is not there. Telepathic mode? Ani feeling ill upon the crash site, headaches, adrenline g [...]

    6. Super-solid 4 stars here. Some spelling and grammar errors, characters weren't as fleshed out as I would have liked, but everything else was very satisfying. The worldbuilding is pretty good (albeit not quite on my favourite worldbuilding shelf) and the plot is how-did-she-think-this-up wonderful.Manages to keep enough information back to keep me interested in continuing the series without the ending being a cliffhanger (because I HATE those) - the main arc is definitely over and nobody's in mort [...]

    7. I was lucky enough to win a signed coy of the book.It is one of the best new sci-fi books I've read in a while. It flows so smoothly, with a great story line. I have to agree it is like reading a classic sci-fi books from the 60's and the 70's. The story really holds your attention and leaves waiting for the next in the series. All I can say is thank you Allynn for writing such a beautiful story.

    8. The Blood kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists were unexpected and kept me wondering what would happen next. Character development for Renloret and Ani was excellent and the action was fast paced and interesting. Even when author Allynn Riggs gives us a chance to breathe from all the action, she makes it fun with dances that have an earthly resemblance to square dancing.

    9. The Blood: The Stone's BladeThe end comes upon you unexpectedly, even I let the pages slip by! An extraordinarily good sci-first novel. Read it you will be rewarded with an exceptional tale.
