    1. Standard Gideon. Read these on the tube and get quite annoyed when I get to my stop and have to leave it for a bitThey are all much of a muchness but enjoyable even so

    2. Good development, most of the time, on all three subplots, with several of those great moments detective novel fans live for.

    3. Gideon doesn't trust the conclusions Scotland Yard has drawn about a vice ring, and murder soon proves him right. A con man steps out of his normal pattern, but Gideon has no doubt it is he who arranged the kidnapping of an heiress. Meanwhile Gideon must decide whether to accept a promotion that would place him permanently behind his desk.
