    1. A lot of reviewers describe this book as a mystery. I didn't get that impression from it. Dark Angel is more of a general fiction book. You can't call it a coming-of-age novel because Jeff, the main character, is incredibly mature for his age, but then he's had to be.When he was 12, his older brother, Troy, murdered another kid and was sent to prison for it under a life sentence. The fallout was so traumatic, Jeff and his parents had to pack up and move to a small town in New Jersey where they m [...]

    2. A suggested read (for reluctant readers) by the author of Readicide, Kelly Gallagher. It was okay. I liked the suggested thinking about good vs. evil and where those ideas stack up to human biology.

    3. I recommend the book “Dark Angel” to whoever likes a good mystery book. This book is about the Hastings family who has a secret that nobody knows but them. Jeff is the main character, he has an older brother, Troy, who was 16 when he committed his first legitimate crime that would send him to prison for the rest of his life. After Troy commits the crime the rest of his family moves far away to a small community town. After moving they restart their lives. Jeff starts school and starts to play [...]

    4. Personal Response: "Dark Angel" is a book that really puts into perspective the life of an average teenager, that is if the average teenager has a murderous brother. The book looks through the lenses of a teen boy who seems to always have it good, until his brother is released from prison. I find this an interesting way to observe how a teenager perceives something, for instance, "My life is over!" The book acts as a story and a metaphor of a teenager's life, and I really enjoyed it.Plot: Sevent [...]

    5. I was going to give this book 3 stars but decided to give it 4 stars because it thoroughly questioned how and what I think. This is a story from the point of view of a teenage boy whose brother (a convicted murderer) returns from prison to live with his family. It explores relationships / selfishness / judgment/ friendship / trust / loyalty / good vs. evil / family / obligation / fear / success vs. failure / forgiveness.I have never really thought about the point of view of the FAMILY of the murd [...]

    6. The Hastings seemed like the perfect family to their neighborhood because no one knew about them having a convicted murderer for a son. Once the secret spilled some neighbors’ thought that Troy just needed a second chance while others we’re quick to suspect him for being the reason a boy went missing in town. And the first one to try to prove Troy is guilty is Jeff, his younger brother.I liked reading Dark Angel because the author questioned the reader throughout the book if evil was an effe [...]

    7. Jeff Hastings' family harbors a dark secret. 5 years ago, the oldest brother killed a boy at school with a knife, and was sent to prison with a life sentence. They've moved on with their lives in a new town, trying to forget the terrible things Troy did, but on a technicality he is being released from prison, and now they have to confront the thing they've tried so hard to avoid. Dark Angel is a story about good and evil, but not in the sense that the lines are clearly drawn. Jeff has to decide [...]

    8. This is a low suspense fiction book with a little mystery incorporated . In the beginning of the book it was very straight forward and pretty much just told you exactly what was happening and why it was happening. As you kept reading it began to hook you by having a high school mystery that everybody wanted answers to. Things began to get tough and aggressive for the Hastings Family. Who wanted answers just as bad as everybody around them. Their family were not the only ones affected. Another fa [...]

After Jeff, the main character of the story hears that his older brother Troy was released from prison, his world was turned upside down. 11. The story itself definitely sounded interesting to me, that's why I was excited to start reading it, but I was disappoointed. I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style, it just wasn't able to capture me, I wasn't excited to turn the pages and find out more. I also expected something different when reading this book. I was expecting to find out more about Troys personality, as well as the ending to be different. The plot was a bit too predictable to be exciting. But to do the author justice, he did [...]

    14. I foundthis book in a bar in Austria! It tellsthe story of Jeff, a high school kid with an ordinary but happy life. Jeff’s life is thrown into disarray when his older brother comes home from jail. Jeff had never told anyone he had a brother and that his brother was a murderer. Throughout the book Jeff questions the relationships between good and evil and whether it is inherited. Many people give Jeffs brother Troy a chance, but Jeff prejudges him because he feels he knows him inside. A boy goe [...]

    15. I thought this book was very good and it really makes you think about how things can just be taken away so easily and it is suspenseful which is awesome it also makes you value the little things about life cause if your life is taken from you along with your freedom you wont be able to enjoy the little things.

    16. Really great book. Captivating and intriguing. Characters you can relate to in a situation I never even thought of. Well done. Klass, you have done it yet again.

    17. "Dark Angel" by David Klass is easily one of the books that while I read it I couldn’t put it down. The author tells the story in a way that I couldn’t actually guess what is going to happen in the end. My favorite character was troy because of how mysterious the author made him and because you will never be able to know what is going on inside his mind. The plot of the story is that while living in buffalo NY. Troy, the older brother of Jeff killed a boy and got sentenced to life in the sta [...]

    18. When I originally picked this book up and read the preview, I was a little hesitant to read it. The plot sounded familiar to me, and the concept wasn't too catchy to me. In the end though I did read it. I was completely surprised. This book was not like most of the books I read. In most of the books I read, they are not incredibly intriguing for awhile in the book. However, this one held my attention from the second page. I'm about to include a few spoilers so if you haven't read it yet and you [...]

    19. Dark Angel is a very fast moving book with alot of action. There is alot of violence and aggresion. This is a story of a murderer released from prisson trying to start over again. But his anger and aggression get in his way causing him to make a bad mistake. Troy the murderer was sent to life in prison after stabbing his rival in the stomach at the age of seventeen. Now after five years the government went through his records and thought he should not have been tried the way he was tried. He was [...]

    20. Do you know how it feels to live with a killer? Jeff does. Jeff's older brother, Troy, had been accused of killing a boy and the evidence points to him. He was then sentenced for life and his family moved on without him.Six years passed. Jeff finally has a good life and even a girlfriend. But when Troy's sentence is cut short because of technicalities, Jeff is forced to live with the one who ruined everything and will ruin everyone again. His parents may have accepted Troy but he never will. Jef [...]

    21. Book Review Assignment I would recommend this book to my friend because, of the characters relationship and the situation that they are in. What kept me reading this book was the synopsis, on the front cover, of the book. My favorite character is the main character, Jeff, because I can understand what he is going through and he has a good personality. I was not able to predict the ending of the book because, every time I come to the ending of each chapter I have no idea what to expect for the en [...]

    24. *SPOILER* Jeff's brother Troy is released on a technicality from a life sentence in prison for stabbing a boy to death when he was 16. Jeff has not seen his brother in five years and he still resents how Troy's crime disrupted his family's life and forced them to move to Pineville. Their parents, however, are willing and hopeful that Troy is a changed man. Troy seems to be on the right track, finding his own apartment, working long hours at the grocery store, and earning people's trust. But Jeff [...]

    25. Dark Angel by David Klass is a story about a young teenage boy named Jeff and his life in high school. But, his life is a little more complicated than meets the eye. His family has a dark secret from their past that they tried to escape from, only now it seems their past has come back to haunt them. 26. It had me some issues. I'm really just so glad and lucky that I bought it on some bargain at NBS, SM Molino.Okay, so the book. It's so beautiful I can't. By beautiful, it doesn't have the essence of other YA books I have read (God the narrowness of my knowledge) but it kept me on the edge of my bed, figuratively, until I get to the end.I am spoiled in a perfectly beautiful way. The one I read for spoiler reviews. I misunderstood it. :)) Therefore I expected the wrong conclusion, kept waiting for [...]

    27. Dark Angel was an interesting and well investigated story which delved deeply into the dilema of how you can have moral issues against violence and how your decisions may be different when they conflict with family members. I think that the content was adequate for all high schoolers, but was still a good read for those who would normally lean towards more challenging books. I was really curious the whole time whether or not Troy was guilty of murdering Franchise Fraser and the twists and turns [...]

    28. When Jeff Hastings brother, Troy, come home early from his life time sentence in prison, things quickly turn upside down. Beth, Jeff's girlfriend, stops talking to him, and soon many other people are upset with him as well. While Troy fools everyone into thinking that he is ready for a new start and has turned over a new leaf, Jeff remains suspicious. And when Tom "Franchise" Frasier goes missing after a fight between Troy, Jeff, and himself, things get even worse for Jeff's family. And when peo [...]

    29. I would like to give this a five star but there is just one thing hold me back. I really really hate Beth. I think Beth is somekind of catalyst that make all the events happening. Some the events can be avoided if she wasn't lying to Jeff about the real reason she avoided Jeff. And to think that she has the holier than thou attitude to Jeff when the disappearance started. Really rankled me. I think Jeff was better off without Beth. The last scene between Jeff and Beth makes me want to throw the [...]
