    1. The Forests Of Silence (Deltora Quest, #1), Emily RoddaThe Forests of Silence was written by Emily Rodda, and is the first book in the eight-volume Deltora Quest series. It was published in 2000 by . The book opens with a boy called Jarred, a friend of Prince Endon. After the death of King Alton and his queen, Endon is proclaimed King in his father's place. To consummate this, a magical steel belt, the Belt of Deltora, is set around Endon's waist. The Belt recognizes Endon as Deltora's rightful [...]

    4. This was one of my favorite book series as a teen and was the book that really got me into reading fantasy. It's technically considered a children's fiction book, but if you are interested in YA books don't let that scare you off as it's an excellent piece of fantasy writing. I recently read this book for the third of fourth time after a very long hiatus of reading hundreds of other YA and Adult fiction and I'm pleased to say that it holds up very well. The series starts with a king and his best [...]

    6. What a nice, quick read. This is a great fantasy novel for 7-10-year olds. First half of the book is about the protagonist's dad. The second half is very the action starts and the three main characters meet. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

    7. Série DELTORA — Země nestvůr a kouzel si získala oblibu mezi dětmi po celém světě.Ok. Ok.Ať už se mamce snažím tvrdit cokolivJSEM DÍTĚ!

    8. I have just recently finished reading The Forests of Silence, by Emily Rodda. It the first book in the Deltora Quest books. I read this series when i was younger, and remembered that it was a nice escape from reality. After reading it again i can tell why i liked it so much as a kid. This book really isn’t like any other books I’ve read in recent memory. The best way Ii could describe it is like the Lord of the Rings, but much easier to read. The fantasy, creatures, and quest all remind me of [...]

    10. i realise i might be Way Too Old to read this for the first time but i saw a cool edit & now here we r :///

    11. My sister and I both read these in fourth grade (I graduated high school this May, for reference), and to this day they rank among our favorite series read, ever. And we both have read a LOT of books.I forget the plots and the characters names and what even the major point of the quest was but I do remember the fantastic time that I had reading these books. I remember running to the Childrens' section of Barnes and Noble and hoppping up and down waiting for my dad to buy us the next book, and ph [...]

    12. Deltora Quest is a series for children, but the world that is created by the skillful mind of Emily Rodda will stay with you. The characters will remain your friends, and the words will be there to entertain, comfort, distract, anytime you choose to pick up any one of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Deltora Quest series. My love for these books and my gratitude towards Emily Rodda for creating them cannot be accurately explained without sounding creepy. Which is unfortunate. Deltora became a home away from [...]

    13. The book The Forest Of Silence is about a boy named Jared. Jared lived in the castle of Deltora. Jared's parents died so he is still in the castle to be best friends with the prince. They were Best friends and then they got split apart then Jared had a son named Leaf. The Shadow Lord ruled Deltora for many years and the 7 Gems were gone so Leaf goes looking for them with some guy named Barda. They meet a girl named Jasmin. They fight a guy then find 1 gem.I made a text-to-text connection. I conn [...]

    14. Based on this book, "Deltora Quest" seems to be a great transition series for the move from children's books to YA books. This first book in the first series (apparently the Deltora line resembles the "Beast Quest" line, in that they are both long series of books broken up into shorter "mini-series" of five or six volumes each) has an unusually complicated plot (for a children's book), and protagonists that exhibit a more complicated emotional range than most children's books (they're angry, con [...]

    15. Wow, very detailed and action packed started to a series. I loved it when we were told that Jarred and Endon had a secret code as a kid in order to tell each other if Min was near. I kinda got sad and frustrated at the same time when Endon is crowned as king and is forced out of his friendship with Jarred. Prandine is very forceful, and seems to hate Jarred. I can't believe that Endon didn't believe Jarred when he came to warn him, but noooooo Prandine had to freakout and call for guards because [...]

    16. I adored this series as a kid, and re-reading it now, it actually still stands up. Is is simple? Yes. Are there large chunks of exposition? Yes. Does the whole books feel like a rip off of the Lord of the Rings? Absolutely! But it's engaging and descriptive without being flowery or on the nose, female characters are treated the same as any other, and the plot flows swiftly. For a kid's adventure book, this thing ticks all the boxes for me.

    17. Good enjoyable kids book that I still find myself turning to. The T.V series along with it is another, enjoyable show to binge watch. A good throwback.

    18. PERSONAL RESPONSEWhile not the hardest book I have ever read, The Forests of Silence did a wonderful job of keeping my interest. Even though the action part of the story is relatively short, it is well balanced by the backstory. Sort of a nine chapter prologue, if you willOTIn the land of Deltora, King Alton has died of the mysterious illness. Only days before, this same illness took the queen. Their child Endon is crowned, or in this case “belted,” in a ceremony where he will wear the Belt [...]

    19. This came highly recommended. But I thought it was seriously lame for the first 50+ pages. In reading about the characters I felt no sympathy, I thought them shallow, especially the first villain we meet face-to-face, and I thought it extremely far-fetched that Jarred just happened to doubt what he had been raised to believe on the night Endon was crowned. Just happened to think of it! It would have been more believable for Jarred to sneak out, find out what was really going on, come back and fi [...]

    20. I'm eight years older than my brother. When I was a teenager I got into the habit of reading the books he was reading so we could talk about them. It started with Harry Potter and spiraled out from there. My brother absolutely loved the Deltora Quest series as a little boy, and practically begged me to read them. I read them all in one weekend, and it lead to a lot of good conversations between us. I like to think of Deltora Quest as a precursor to epic fantasy series like Lord of the Rings, A S [...]

    21. it is a very good book for somebody that wants to stick with a sires it has probably one of the best backstories ever it creates strong characters and a very interesting universe. it has very interesting characters and places all tied up neatly into a large adventure. one of the ways that a charterer changed (SPOILER ALERT) is when the charterer barda is brought back from the brink of death from the golden lilies nectar and he says that he admits that he wanted to go on the quest alone and not b [...]

    22. Deltora Quest is a very good book. I like how it starts with a flashback to about 16 years ago to show how the world became what it is. The only problem I have with that is Emily Rodda could have made a book just about Lief's dad and the king. I think the group will have trouble finding all of the gems for the belt. I don't know how Lief's father could send his kid into danger like he did. I think it was cool that Barda was pretending to be a homeless person outside of their house for 16 years j [...]

    23. I'm reading DELTORA QUEST in english. Long time ago I started to read the "forest of silence" in spanish because I bought the book in a book festival but I couldn't continue reading because I couldn't find the rest of the books in spanish in that time. Now that I have access to the Public Taichung Library I found all the books in english and I'm so happy! :DEven the forest of silence was too 'light' and 'cute' (I mean not to much angst or dark like the books I like to read) I readed it again in [...]

    24. This book is newly one of my favorites. The main plot of the story is about 2 boys to men living in a closed of kingdom. One of the two men is the king, as was his father, and the other man is his best friend from childhood. Everyone on this inside of the kingdom is mostly care free and feel safe due to the belt of Detora. The belt of Detora is a symbol and weapon of safety and community in the world of Deltora, as explained in the book. The reason behind the belts creation is to defeat the evil [...]

    25. I think it was awesome. Spoilers AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coz Lief goes to a quest along with this beggar, who is actually a big guy who doesn't need food but still begs for money, to a quest to decorate the belt of the king. In their way they meet a girl and she comes with their dangerous quest to decorate the king's belt. They fight their way through the Forests of Silence and get to this bad armored guy protecting a flower. They fight and one of them almost dies to decorate the belt and to get t [...]

    26. I picked this book up off of my shelf late at night, with the intention of going to bed after I finished it. It was a good thing I had the rest of the series as well, otherwise I would have had to find a book store open at 11 o'clock at night! The Deltora Quest series is amazing. Once you start it, you will not want to put it down. The character development is believable and the world that Rodda has created is well-developed and lush with danger and magical creatures. I wish I had picked up the [...]

    27. It was pretty dang good! The beginning was a bit a confusing, but after a while it began to become more clear. The first part of the book is about two childhood friends who did almost everything together. Heck the two Friends even made there own secret language. One of the friends was a prince and his father died from a unknown sickness, Making the prince king! In order to become king, the prince needs to put on a magical with 7 magic gems. these seven gems have the power to keep the shadow lord [...]

    28. Before I read it, I had never heard of this series. I saw it sitting on a bookshelf and I had nothing else to read, so I thought why not? So I picked it up. As I read of Jarred and Endon's journey, I was instantly intrigued. The whole idea around the series - to collect the 7 gems of the belt of Deltora to end the reign of the evil Shadow Lord - is simple yet so effective! Also, the main characters of Lief, Barda, and Jasmine is really an interesting mix and proves to hold potential for great ch [...]

    29. WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERSI've read this book seven times. This book is a book set in another land/planet. I decided to read it because most of my friends were/had reading/read it. I liked how it was another world with cool mythical creatures and magic and how it was full of adventure. It was cool how an evil sorcerer had taken over the land and to drive him from the land the main characters had to find seven magical gems. I liked the idea how each gem had an evil guardian that that had to def [...]

    30. I read the series way back in the day, so I have decided to re read them. This book is exactly how I remembered it. Loved it. Cant wait to read the rest.
