    1. -This is an intermediate chapter book recommended for grades 1-3. This would be independent reading for Paige.-I chose this book because Paige said she liked books about animals and also that she had 2 pet rabbits. This book is about a girl who rescues 3 rabbits and helps them find new homes. Also, the girl in the book gets the lead part in her school play and has dreams of becoming a movie star. In Paige's interest inventory she also mentions that she likes movies and would like to be in a movi [...]

    2. Maidie: I liked the bunnies. I didn't like how Ellie treated her friends because she was just talking and talking and wouldn't let her friends talk. But in the end, she learned a lesson. She learned not to talk all about herself when her friends want to tell her something.

    3. Ellie has the lead in the school play, which is very exciting. So exciting in fact that it's all she talks about - forgetting something important in the process - how to be a friend. With the other members of the Critter Club mad, it's hard to concentrate on what's important - helping to find homes for the bunnies at the shelter. This is a cute story, and the issue of friendship is discussed very well. This is an easy book for a child to identify with. My problem with it, is that this is the Crit [...]

    4. The Critter Club: All About Ellie by Callie Barkley is an intermediate chapter book that tells the story of friendship, responsibility, and selflessness. This particular book is the second book in The Critter Club series that follows the life of four girls: Ellie, Amy, Liz, and Marion. The girls form what they named The Critter Club because they opened an animal shelter in an old barn where they help animals in need of homes. The animals that they are helping throughout this book are three baby [...]

    5. This second book in the popular Critter Club series of early reader chapter books involves a Critter Club friend (four girls who started an animal rescue in book 1 - yeah!) getting a swelled head when she lands the lead in a school play, and realizing that's a quick way to lose friends. Feel good text with feel good illustrations - I've actually met the illustrator, Marsha Ritti, and she beams this sort of radiant joy, and that is something she passes on to her illustrations. Hooray!

    6. gr 1-3 112pgs8 year old Ellie can't believe she's been picked for the star role in the upcoming play! It's all she can think or talk about it. Why don't her friends seem too happy with her?

    7. From the outside, this looks like any number of silly series books, but I actually really liked it. Ellie's self-absorbtion is a flaw many people have, and the way she and her friends sort out their differences is great.

    8. This was a cute book that shows kids how to be a good friend and how that you can't ignore what your friends are trying to tell you. It is a good set of books and my daughter loves them. Soon I think we will be reading the next book in this set. Too many good books not enough time to read them.

    9. Favorite niece didn't love this one as much as the first one. She didn't care for the selfishness that Ellie had through the book. It's great that she picked up on that and we had a great discussion about it!She loved the bunnies and was so happy that they found homes!

    10. Nice choice for our younger audience who are reading independently. Second graders, Ellie, Liz, Amy and Marion are in the Critter Club, but Ellie is preoccupied with her role in the school play.

    11. Cute early chapter book with a message about friendship. These are also good read alouds for those too young to read.

    12. Would have loved to see a picture of Misty Copeland on Ellie's wall! Or Alvin Ailey or any black dancer really

    13. I thought that this story had a really good lesson in it for children. You can be excited about your own achievements, but you need to remember your friends. I love these books for my daughter.
