    1. A native of Cincinnati, Jerry Hunter is a Professor of Welsh at the University of Wales, Bangor, and one of the pre-eminent scholars of the Welsh-American experience. In 2004, his groundbreaking study of Welsh participation in the American Civil War, Llwch Cenehedloedd (The Dust of Nations), won the Book of the Year Award from the Welsh Books Council.
