    1. Check out more Picture book reviews @ Perspective of a WriterA boy opens the door to a mammoth who is too big for the house, the park and even the town! When the boy's new pet is able to save the day everyone's view of the animal changes. The watercolor illustrations were quite good and we particularly enjoyed the pool splashing and the kids all riding on his back. There was also a picture of poo that we talked about quite extensively, lol! While I liked the illustrations I'm not sure if the colo [...]

    2. Mammoth has woken from a thousand years sleep and is hungry. He makes a new friend who tries to feed him and find stuff he can do. Unfortunately, Mammoth is too big and he squashes things or doesn't fit. Then they come across a broken down bus and Mammoth is able to carry all the kids home. Now Mammoth is useful and can stay with his new friend.I love the softness of the watercolor illustrations. They add a dreamy quality to the story. I think kids will really enjoy seeing Mammoth squashing the [...]

    3. One night, there's a knock on the door -- and mammoth has come to stay! Of course, he's too big for the modern city, and he gets in all kinds of trouble. Luckily, his large size saves the day in the end (a la Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer) and he gets to stay. The illustrations are done primarily with watercolor, with outlines in graphite. The color palette is a bit washed-out for such a silly action-oriented book. The mammoth is also blue? Which is confusing, because it makes him look like an e [...]

    4. A mammoth wakes up after a long sleep because he is hungry. A little boy feeds him from his freezer. The boy wants the mammoth to stay, but he doesn't fit in his house and he crushes his father's shed. The mammoth is banished to the country, but something happens to allow him to come back to town. Mammoth is cute, and story is cute, but not extremely funny.

    5. Great illustrations. Giant pile of poo! I wish the mammoth could have saved the children from some actual peril though

    6. Not much of a story, but the illustrations are fun. What kid wouldn't love a picture of a mammoth-sized dump on a car?

    7. Being friends with a mammoth sounds exciting doesn't it? It is, but also has its challenges. Sweet story of friendship and acceptance.
