    1. Suspenseful and Thrilling!Aztec Mythology with a paranormal twist – totally loved it. The suspense has you on the edge of your seat in this short fast pace story. The Sun God, Goddess, Warrior, Guardian, wolf spirit, and evil demon filled this story with so much excitement just within the first page that I couldn’t believe the author packed all the action within 50 pages leaving me with wanting to know more about this pantheon of the Aztec world. The brutal fighting scenes between the warrior [...]

    2. I actually enjoyed this book more than I expected going into it, because I'm not really a fan of either urban fantasy or paranormal romance (I'm more into historical romance), but in the end I enjoyed the story, though I also found it frustrating on several levels.I love love love that the author didn't shy away from using the actual Nahuatl names of the gods (Chalchiuhtlicue gets shortened to Chicha, though given that it took me a couple tries to actually pronounce the Nahuatl one, I don't cons [...]

    3. Review originally posted here: thebookpushers/2011/10/07/Publisher: SamhainPublish Date: Out Now!How I got this book: eARC from authorI was intrigued by this book mainly because it was wrapped up in Aztec mythology, and that isn’t something that is common in the paranormal world. I was hoping it would be fresh and new and different.Carolina is living alone on her ranch, protecting her goddess and barely hanging on by a thread. When she is attacked by a demon one night and ends up fighting side [...]

    4. 2.5 starsCarolina runs a ranch, and is the protector of a water goddess. She was in love once, or thought she was, but the man betrayed her. It ended with her parents’ deaths. She has vowed to herself, and her goddess never to let her heart rule her again. Then a wolf ends up on her ranch. If I was hanging out at my barn, turned around and saw a wolf giving me the eye I would be scared. I might slowly back away, or stay frozen in place scared to death. Carolina gives the wolf the eye back, eve [...]

    5. A fast-paced, engrossing start to the Shadow Warriors series, which builds on Aztec mythology.Carolina is a guardian, sworn to protect her family's secret as her parents did before her. She works her ranch alone, keenly regretting that a foolish choice to trust another years ago betrayed her family and cost them their lives.Tomas is a Shadow Warrior, bound to serve the Aztec sun god. He has a wolf form as well as a human form, but as he rids the earth of demons, each kill takes with it some of h [...]

    7. Review by Ivelisse: Tomas is an Aztec shadow warrior, he was turned into his wolf spirit centuries ago to fight off demons for his Aztec sun god. After so many years fighting and killing demons his is slowly but surely losing his humanity, until he finds his spirit mate Carolina who has sworn to protect and keep the secrets of her water goddess. This story had me hooked, lined and sinkered from the beginning. The authors really did a wonderful job describing Tomas and Carolina's inner turmoil to [...]

    8. Out of the Shadows is the first book in what I believe it a new series from Gabriella Hewitt. Tomas is a shadow warrior, a man who must fight for control with the wolf he shares his existence with. While on the trail of a demon, Tomas comes across Carolina, a woman with strong powers of her own, and surprisingly Tomas's soul mate. The action starts very quickly as Tomas and Carolina are forced to work together to stop the demon threatening her lands. I love the intricate mythology that Hewitt ha [...]
