    1. gr 4-6 165 pgs1860s, Texas. Jo and her younger brother Andrew are sent to live with their uncle after their grandmother, with whom they'd been living, dies. Jo and Andrew's uncle used to living by himself is not happy to see them. He is also preoccupied by the recent string of robberies (Jo and Andrew's stagecoach is robbed on the way there) being committed by a group of bandits.     2. I read this book back in elementary school and absolutely loved it. The pace is a little slow and laid back, but it's quite refreshing and still engaging. Jo is an extremely strong female character; we need more characters like her in literature. This story has remained with me over the years and I doubt that I'll ever forget it.

    3. I loved this book! Of course, I love all of Willo Davis Roberts' books! I felt like I was In the book, like I was Jowho is kinda the main character! It was so good, but it either needed to be longer or have a sequal! But, again I think all of this author's books need to be longer or have sequals! They are just SO GOOD!
