    1. Anfangs etwas schleppend, bis ich reingekommen bin. Dann war ich wieder total gefangen. Und wie gemein ist das denn? Da endet das ganze und es ist noch so viel offen. Da muss ich wohl sehr zügig Old Surehand II lesen.

I've always been meaning to give Karl May a second chance after having given "Winnetou" - a story I love very much in the movies - a try (probably 20 years ago now) and finding it unbearably Mary-Sueish.So I got the first volume of 'Old Surehand' on my kindle - and I loved it!There's still a bit of Mary-Sueishness there - the first-person narrator is still unbelievably perfect - but it didn't strike me as unbearable, esp as he gives the others their due for perfection and tries to be modest abou [...]

    6. I read this series long ago and absolutely loved it! I stopped somewhere around volume 45 but I don't know if I'll ever get back to it. Maybe I'll re-read this series in the future.

    7. I already knew the story from listening to great audiobooks as a child and finally read it – it's at least as great as the audiobooks, if not better ;)
